Room 330, Saturday Evening
It was probably for the best that Evan hadn't actually changed this weekend. As great as he remembered his childhood being, he really didn't have much in the way of coping skills as a little boy. And why would he? He'd never known the real world. It would be cruel leaving him to his own devices, with that in mind.
Not that he knew that people were changing, this weekend. Not when he had a stack of books to read, and a dog dozing at his feet who was more than happy to just keep his toes warm. Reading and keeping warm from the November chill seemed like the perfect way to spend a Saturday, if you asked Evan. Especially a Saturday spent steadfastly ignoring the upcoming holiday. Holidays. The whole season-to-be.
Books were great for that.
[OOC: The door is cracked a wee bit, and the post is open! Hi!]

Her mind wasn't so different, though, because it never was.
Most of her day had been spent playing in her room by herself but, come evening, she had felt like company. The stairs had been pretty daunting to someone her size, especially with her limp, but she made it up eventually.
"Hello, Evan," Yeul said, peeking her head into his room.
no subject
"Yeul?" Evan blinked as he set down his book. "... Is this another weird weekend?"
Safe guess, Ev.
no subject
Yeul thought he might like to know that.
"Caius wouldn't like it though."
Because tiny, tiny Yeul was even more fragile than her grown-up self!

"Yes, please," she said, lifting her arms up so he could pick her up more easily.
no subject
"So... You're... a little kid, but you're still the same?"
Yeah, he was curious. He still didn't fully understand how all of her lives worked.
no subject
"I don't think so," Yeul said, tilting her head. "I don't remember how I know you, just that I do. I know your name and that we're friends but that's about it. And that this place isn't... unfamiliar."
no subject
"I guess not unfamiliar isn't a bad way to put it. It's not quite the same thing as home, but it's comfortable." He tapped his bottom lip thoughtfully with one finger. "But you're right. We've been friends here for a while. Even if it did get dangerous or even uncomfortable, I would do everything I could to keep you safe."
Because that's what friends do, right?
no subject
Yeul considered him with big green eyes, then asked, "Why?"
no subject
That was one of many reasons. And probably one of the more honest ones.
no subject
"It's big over there," she said, explaining, as she sat down with her back against his bed.
What? She couldn't get on his bed by herself!
no subject
Slightly.
"I feel better because... If I know you're safe and happy, then you might stay for a while, I guess. I mean, you're safe. Safe is good!"
This was probably going to be difficult to explain.
no subject
"I don't understand," she said, tilting her head up though she couldn't see him since she was facing the wrong way. "I will stay just as long safe as I will un-safe."
no subject
"Well... Yes and no. If something is dangerous, it might take you away, right?"
no subject
"But I'll come back if it does!"
no subject
"I guess you will," he agreed. "But it'll still hurt, won't it? And do you come back right away? Or... or even come back here?"

Evan missed people all the time. That was exacerbated somewhat by the fact that the people he missed most weren't even real.
no subject
"Who would I miss?" Yeul asked. "Caius always comes and there is no one else."
That probably said terrible things about all her home-lives.
no subject
"Would you miss your friends here at all?"

Evan was sounding pretty hopeful there.
no subject
But there seemed little point in saying so when he looked so hopeful.
"It is not bad," Yeul said, because lying out-right seemed just as wrong.
no subject
"Good," he decided, smiling faintly.
... He would have to ask her again when she was older if the answer was any different.
